Here you're back to the old first level of Contra, though things have changed noticeabley. This section was always really dark on whatever TV I had, so I ended up dying a lot. Not like that was any different from the regular game. |
The first boss-thing is a slug with a jeep on it. Perhaps this is sly reference to Contra's friendly ripoff buddy, Metal Slug. Har har. |
You need to shoot these blades to get them to move, but you might also get chopped up in them as well. |
If you don't recognize this thing, get off my webpage. |
Lance was already revealed to be the bad guy a long time ago, now you get to fight him. |
In general, Lance'll float in midair and do some sort of crazy attack. This is the worst, where he'll shoot a fireball with deadly accuracy. |
This is easy to dodge, really - just don't get hit by the rotating lightning. His other attacks include a move where he spins all around the screen (the hardest to dodge) and one where he sends bolts along the perimeter of the screen - just stand behind him, jump over them and keep firing. |
Once he's downed, you'll need to fight the alien heart. It's defenseless technically,
though the unlimited amount of spider aliens pouring down from each corner won't help. |
This big worm will wrap all around the screen. Just shoot its head. |
These are smaller versions of those burrowing, multilegged things you fought at the
end of Super Contra. They're not too hard to jump over, although occasionally they'll leap and throw your pattern out of whack. |
The way this thing moves is quite creepy. Its weak spot is obviously that red core, though it's only vulnerable for a few seconds. Make sure to grab the ceiling when it lets loose its flames. |
Now you fight the Red Falcom. Make sure to kill all of the snakes and both of its eyes before hitting the jewel in its forehead to get more hits. |
Lance reveals the plot - at least, if you've scored an A ranking or above. |
