Stage 1: Fortress

You don't just begin the first level by sauntering onto the playing field. And parachutes, quite frankl, are for losers. True Contras crash their plane into the ground and fly through the windshield, completely unscathed and ready for action.

This motorcycle guy takes quite a few hits - just make sure to duck.

The tactic to beat this robot is simple - just make sure you aren't in its targeting reticle when it launches its missiles. Or, and it jumps real high too.

While the weak spot to this confounded contraption is the center, the two cannons on each side will constantly cycle through new methods of destruction as you kill each one. While you could shoot the core for a quick victory, disarm everything to get the most points.

After the evil helicopter robot destroys the bridge, you get to snowboard down a mountain with a gigantic worm chasing after you. It's like SSX, except crossed with Tremors. Not the stupid ones with the walking worms, the one with Kevin Bacon.

These nasties will carry you off unless you set them on fire. This should also ring a bell for Contra 3 fans.

So that giant robot that you saw in the intro (and destroyed that bridge is back and ready for action....

...well, not for long, as the old Contra 3 boss makes a reappearance. The head is major weak point, though use the grenades to hit the hives on the top and bottom.

It seems that the ass of that thing is a malformed human face with a several case of bulimia and some nasty floating boogers. Just stand in the right spot, avoid the projectiles and you're set, although the hit detection on this part always seemed a bit dodgy to me.
